Welcome to polishedbybeckie.com. I hope you enjoy your time here!

I'm Beckie. I manage our family-owned self-storage facility. I am also a professional photographer focusing on product photography, and I LOVE all things nail polish (ESPECIALLY nail art)!

I thought this would be a fun place to share my manis and swatches that I do, as well as discussing new favorite colors and brands, and my ever-growing polish collection! I mean, hey, I could have worse addictions, right? ;-)

Women of Words by Lollipop Posse Lacquer | Indie Polish Review

**this product is a press sample and was sent to me to swatch and give my honest review**

This new collection by Karen, of Lollipop Posse Lacquer, is inspired by a strong girl or woman from some of her favorite books. This collection consists of five beautiful shades that applied like a dream, all in two easy coats, and have that gorgeous Lollipop sparkle! I’ll tell you about launch details after the pictures…

First up is [really almost beautiful]; “Under the pink Harlequin sunglasses, strawberry lipstick, earrings dangling charms, and sugar-frosted eyeshadow, she was really almost beautiful.” ~Weetzie Bat, by Francesca Lia Block

This is a deep jewel-toned raspberry shade filled with linear holographic pigment and silver holographic micro flakies. Every single one of these shades is so gorgeous, and I love this entire collection, so I’m just going to give you the descriptions, because I don’t really have any words for how amazing this collection is!

Next up is [courage, dear heart]; “But no one, except Lucy, knew that as the albatross circled the mast it had whispered to her ‘Courage, dear heart’, and the voice, she felt sure, was Aslan’s.” ~The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, by C.S. Lewis

This one is a glittering, glistening gold holographic that is packed with gold and bronze micro flakies and shimmers with a green undertone. This is a gorgeous gold!

Next we have [half so interesting]; “There’s such a lot of different Anne’s in me. I sometimes think that is why I’m such a troublesome person. If I was just the one Anne it would be ever so much more comfortable, but then it wouldn’t be half so interesting.” ~Anne of Green Gables, by L.M. Montgomery

This beauty is a deep, opaque emerald shade that is packed with scattered holographic pigment, blue micro flakies, bronze micro flakies, and blue/green shifting pigment.

Here we have [i give you your faults]; “Meg, I give you your faults.”
“My faults!” Meg cried.
“Your faults.”
“But I’m always trying to get rid of my faults.”
“Yes,” Mr Whatsit said. “However, I think you’ll find they’ll come in very handy on Comazotz.”
~ A Wrinkle in Time, by Madeleine L’Engle

This one is a rich, jewel-toned, holographic teal with bright sparks of gold and bronze micro flakies scattered throughout.

And lastly we have [you are the gull (strong and wild)]; “You are the gull, Jo, strong and wild, fond of the storm and the wind, flying far out to sea, and happy all alone.” ~Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott

This gorgeous beauty is a rich and luxurious sapphire/indigo shade packed with blue micro flakies and holographic pigment. (this is the beauty that I used as an accent nail in my Super Bowl mani; gorgeous, right??)

I’m not sure that I could pick one favorite out of this collection because I truly love them ALL!! Could you pick just one?

Launch date is Friday, February 17th, 7p Eastern. They will be $12 each, and if you get all 5, there will be a 10% discount on the set for the first 24 hours of the sale! During this launch there will also be a restock of [dishing just desserts], [bid adieu to your ennui], and [a party to calm your nerves]. There will also be a small quantity re-released of [shiny blue water]! So be sure to set those alarms, folks, because you don’t want to miss out on any of these beauties!! Charity Collaboration with Anchor & Heart Lacquer | Indie Polish Review

**this product is a press sample and was sent to me to swatch and give my honest review**

Today I want to share with you two beautiful polishes for a cause. Taryn, of Anchor & Heart Lacquer, and Crystal, of Crystal’s Charity Lacquers, teamed up to create two beautiful polishes to help raise funds and awareness for The Heart & Stroke Foundation. These will be available for preorder for $12 each in Taryn’s shop from February 12-28.

Onto the pictures =D

First up is [braver than you believe]; a steely aqua blue with a purple shimmer throughout. It also has some lavender holo glitter and holo micro flakies. I used two coats and top coat for my swatch. This applied very nicely, and is a really beautiful shade of blue!

And next we have [stronger than you think]; this one is a clear base packed with holographic pigment, turquoise holo glitter, micro glitter in various colors, shifting iridescent glitter, and a subtle purple shimmer. Wow! This one packs a punch! I used two coats for my swatch. You will need a top coat as this one dries slightly textured.

Make sure you set your alarms for these so you can grab them during the preorder event, February 12-28! They’ll be available for purchase in Taryn’s shop only. And the proceeds help go to a good cause!

The Patriots Win the Super Bowl!!!

So, I am a Patriots fan. I have been for a long time. I chose the Patriots as my team because when My Loving Man and I got married we’d watch football every weekend during the season, and I got bored pretty quickly. It didn’t interest me. But I wanted to spend time with My Loving Man, and I wanted to like what he liked. So I decided that I needed to choose a football team that was my own, not his football team, but one that I could like and follow, track the players, etc. So in 2001 (we married in ’96) I chose the Patriots because they were the underdogs that year, and I had a thing for underdogs. That ended up being Tom Brady’s first year as starting quarterback, and they made it to the Super Bowl and they won. Fast forward to February 5, 2017, and he broke many records last night with their win over the Atlanta Falcons! It was an amazing game, and I was so excited to watch it!

I did my nails on Friday evening because I had a busy day on Saturday. But I knew that I needed to support my team, because there was a lot of opposition to them making it to the Super Bowl. I used Nine Zero Lacquer [patriot] (glitter-no longer available), Lollipop Posse Lacquer [i want my scars to show] (red-no longer available), and [you are the gull, strong and wild] (blue-an upcoming release). It’s a simple mani, but I really like how it turned out.

Inspired by a Drum Set | Series

This is a series that I started about a year ago and kind of forgot about. But I want to revive it! There are SO many beautiful drum sets out there that are just begging to have manis recreated for them! As some of you may know, My Loving Man is a drummer, so I am always looking at drum sets whether I’m with him or on my own. I just can’t help it. My eyes are just drawn to them.

Anyway, this month, I chose a gorgeous kit that was custom made by a company called SJC Custom Drums. And when you see this kit, you’ll immediately understand why I had to recreate it on my nails! So, let’s get to the pictures already…

SJC neon drums

Neon!!! Now you see why I had to recreate it!! Here I used a dry-brush technique to recreate the effect used on the shells. I will list the colors used below the mani picture.

SJC neon drums mani

I used white for my base. And I’ll list all the neons separately, and link them as well:
Sweet & Sour Lacquer [mystery neon pink]
Pahlish [petale de rose]
KB Shimmer [in yacht water]
KB Shimmer [rum me the right way]
KB Shimmer [for sail by owner]
Fairytale Finish [fairytale dust]

(my apologies; when I went looking for these on their respective websites, I discovered that none of them are available anymore.)

This was a really fun mani to create, and I got to wear it for quite a few days, and had a lot of compliments on it!

I encourage you to find inspiration in items that you might not normally consider, and use them to recreate a mani! I think you may  be surprised at your results!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Hour at the Bar by Top Shelf Lacquer | Indie Polish Review

**this product is a press sample and was sent to me to swatch and give my honest review**

Today I have the upcoming collection from Top Shelf Lacquer to share with you! It’s a gorgeous 11-piece collection called “Happy Hour at the Bar”, and contains various finishes and colors. The launch date for this collection is January 27th at 8pm EST, and they will be available in Amy’s shop.

FYI: this is a picture-heavy post since this collection contains 11 polishes! =D

First up is [gin and bear it!]; full coverage pink and gold micro glitter with a sprinkling of holo. I used 3 coats to achieve full coverage in my swatch. This is the daintiest out of the bunch, but also quite a classy polish.

Next up is [everything happens for a riesling]; a full coverage lavender micro glitter with plenty of holo bling. I’m pretty sure there’s some teal in there too! I used 2 coats for opacity. Another glittery beauty!

Here we have [because no great story ever started with salad]; a full coverage teal micro glitter with lots of holo bling. I LOVE this one! Teal is one of my favorite colors lately, and this one is so sparkly and WOW! I used 3 coats for even coverage (that was due to user error).

And the last of the micro glitters is [let’s get ready to stumble]; a magenta full coverage micro glitter with sparks of holo. I used 2 coats for opacity.

Next up is [save water, drink wine]; a deep rich currant wine creme base with red shimmer and a slight touch of holo. This one ended up being a surprise favorite out of the entire bunch for me. There’s just something special about it! Like it glows from within! I used two coats for my swatch.

Next is [i have mixed drinks about feelings]; an indigo base with a strong peach shimmer shift and some added ultra chrome chameleon flakes and a touch of scattered holo. I used 2 coats for my swatch. I was concerned that the flakes wouldn’t sit well on my nail and would clump up, but they didn’t cause any problems at all. And such a beautiful color!!

Here is my other choice for favorite in this collection! [trust me, you can dance~vodka]; a multi-chrome that shifts between cobalt, purple, and teal with an added touch of linear holo. I had a hard time capturing the purple shift, but it is SO gorgeous!!!!!! Two coats for my swatch!

Here we have [sippity doo dah, sippity yay]; a deep wine multi-chrome that shifts from orange/bronze to red/purple with added linear holo. Two coats for my swatch. Another gorgeous shifty beauty! (the shift was a little harder to capture on this one, but it was there!)

[i drink and i know things]; an eggplant base with multi-chrome flakes, scattered holo and a touch of red shimmer. Another pretty one with the flakes! Two coats for my swatch.

[it’s happy hour, drink until he’s cute!]; a multi-chrome that shifts from blue to purple to pink/gold and has ultra chrome chameleon flakes and a touch of scattered holo. I used two coats for my swatch. I was able to capture some of the shift in this one; another beauty!

And lastly [beauty is in the eye of the beer holder]; a deep fuchsia base with a bright pink shimmer, a touch of holo, and a sprinkling of blue glass fleck. The blue glass fleck makes this one glow! It’s stunning! I used two coats for my swatch.

What do you think? Do any of them stand out to you as must-haves? Once again, these will launch on January 27th at 8P EST in Amy’s shop.
