Welcome to polishedbybeckie.com. I hope you enjoy your time here!

I'm Beckie. I manage our family-owned self-storage facility. I am also a professional photographer focusing on product photography, and I LOVE all things nail polish (ESPECIALLY nail art)!

I thought this would be a fun place to share my manis and swatches that I do, as well as discussing new favorite colors and brands, and my ever-growing polish collection! I mean, hey, I could have worse addictions, right? ;-)

Introducing the Smokey Neons by Native War Paints | Indie Polish Review

**this product is a press sample and was sent to me to swatch and give my honest review**

Today I am honored to share with you a brand new addition to the neon collection over at Native War Paints. These new neons are a bit different in that they are made with a gray base instead of a white base, making them truly unique. And of course they have that amazing shimmer! They are called “The Smokey Neons” and they’re awesome!

I admit that I was nervous when Brian and Amanda sent these to me to swatch, because I knew that they would want some water marble swatches, and well, me and water marbling just don’t play well together. But Amanda suggested that I watch the video that she and her husband made for their YouTube Channel, of her husband doing a water marble with their polishes to see just how easy it really is, and I did, and I think I’ve finally gotten the hang of it (I’ll let you be the judge of that as I’ve posted a couple at the end of this post).

So now, let’s get to my swatches of this gorgeous collection ๐Ÿ˜›

[smoke and mirrors]; a muted neon magenta with gold, green, and blue shifty shimmer. I used two coats and top coat for my swatch. These all appear thin on the first coat, but the second coat brings that opacity home.

[up in smoke]; a muted neon red with cyan, blue, and purple shifty shimmer. I used two coats and top coat for my swatch. This is one of my favorites from this collection!

[smoke out]; a muted neon orange with blue, purple, red, and orange shifty shimmer. I used two coats and top coat for my swatch.

[blowing smoke]; a muted neon green with indigo, purple, and red shifty shimmer. I used two coats and top coat for my swatch.

[holy smokes]; a muted neon blue with red, yellow, and orange shifty shimmer. This is another favorite for me, which is unusual as I’m not typically a fan of blues, but this one is just so beautiful! Two coats and top coat for my swatch.

[smoke screen]; a muted neon purple with red, orange and yellow shifty shimmer. Another favorite because…PURPLE! Two coats and top coat for my swatch.

This amazing, must-have collection launches in the Native War Paints shop on April 28th at 12pm Eastern (and will also be available at The Polish Convention in NYC on April 29th). Make sure you get yours ordered, or pick them up at Polish Con, because you absolutely need these! They will be $8 each or $45 for the collection during preorder.

Now let’s get to some nail art…

I attempted some water marbling with these smokey neons, and I must say, it was much easier than my previous attempts in the past that were not successful at all. I think I did pretty well. It did take a while, and I needed a few attempts, hence only a few nails and not an entire mani. Let me know what you think…

I also did a couple manis of my usual abstract style. I did a squishy marble and a brush-stroke mani, and then did some stamping on each of them.

This is such a fabulous collection, and I can’t wait to play with them some more!! These beauties launch on Friday April 28th on the Native War Paints website, and will also be available at Polish Con NYC on April 29th. Be sure to grab some for yourself so you can have just as much fun as I have been!

inspired by a drum set | Series

Today’s “inspired by a drum” series post features a kit made by DW Drums. For this mani I used some polishes that are no longer available (sorry ๐Ÿ™ ), but I think the colors worked to match the kit. What do you think?

Polish Con 2017 Exclusives by Native War Paints | Indie Polish Review

**this product is a press sample and was sent to me to swatch and give my honest review**

Hey there. Today I want to show what beauty awaits for those who will be going to Polish Con NYC 2017 on April 29th. Native War Paints is going to have 4 exclusive polishes for those attending the event as well as a special VIP exclusive for those whoย have purchased a VIP ticket to the event. (These polishes will only be available at the Polish Con event and not available on the website.)

So let’s take a look at what you’ll see at Polish Con from Native War Paints. These are some beauties for sure!

[queens for a day]; a blue, purple, and orange shifty shimmer with blue, purple, and green crystal chameleon flakies, iridescent shifty glitter, silver micro shreds, and holo of course. This is opaque in two to three coats. (I can’t remember if I did two or three; how terrible is that? ๐Ÿ˜› )

[staten island fairy dust]; a gorgeous purple jelly with holo glitter throughout. I used two coats and top coat for my swatch. And you can’t go wrong with PURPLE!

[i’ll meet you at the bronx zoo]; this is a pink/violet red copper multi-chrome in a fuchsia base. This polish is so shifty and I couldn’t even capture all of its shiftiness on camera. But it is just plain gorgeous! What you see in the bottle is what you’ll see on your nail; I just had a hard time capturing all of that on camera. I used two coats and top coat for my swatch.

[brokelyn]; a deep indigo with that signature contrasting copper shimmer. This one might just be my favorite of the bunch, but don’t tell the others, I wouldn’t want them to be jealous. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I used two coats and top coat for my swatch.

So if you’re attending Polish Con 2017, which of these beauties do you plan on snagging? One, two, or ALL of them? ๐Ÿ˜› Be on the lookout for the Native War Paints booth, and say “Hi” to Brian and Amanda.

Here’s a collage for you to use as a check list while you shop at Polish Con ๐Ÿ˜‰

Feel free to save or screen shot this image for your Polish Con shopping adventures ๐Ÿ™‚

Kiki Vol 2 by Lollipop Posse Lacquer | Indie Polish Review

**this product is a press sample and was sent to me to swatch and give my honest review**

You may remember last November the Christmas Kiki collection by Lollipop Posse Lacquer. Karen decided to create a volume 2, and it does not disappoint! This collection launches on Friday, April 14th at 8pm Eastern. They will be priced individually at $9.50 each, or you can get all 4 for $34. There will also be an awesome bundle if you missed out on the first Kiki collection where you can both sets (all 8 shades) for a total of $66. What a steal!

“So, I hope you’re up, girl,
Because we are all coming over.
Lock the doors, lower the blinds,
Fire up that smoke machine and put on your heels.

A kiki is a party, for calming your nerves.
We’re spilling tea, and dishing just desserts one may deserve.
And though the sun is rising, few may choose to leave,
So shade the lid and we’ll bid adieu to your ennui.

Oh, what a wonderful kiki,
This kiki is marvelous!”
~Scissor Sisters, “Let’s Have a Kiki”

First up is [i hope you’re up, girl]; this is a matte berry shade that is filled with a blue shifting shimmer and pink to blue shifting micro flakies. I first show it matte, and then glossy. These all look great both ways! I used two coats for my swatch.

Next up is [lock the doors tight]; this is a vibrant grass green shade that dries matte, and is filled with a shifting shimmer, and gold micro flakies. I used two coats for my swatch. Again I show it in the matte version and added a top coat so you can see it glossy.

Here we have [we’re gonna serve]; a matte blue/teal that is packed with shifting shimmer and on-tone micro flakies. This is one of my favorites because TEAL! This one is so velvet-y! Two coats for my swatch. Shown matte and glossy.

And lastly, we have [spilling tea]; and gorgeous shimmery golden mustard. I was surprised by how much I liked this one! It is so beautiful! Two coats for my swatch. Shown matte and glossy.

Here is a fun nail art mani that I did using these four shades. I randomly swiped the four shades on my nails, and did some paisley stamping on top. I love how they turned out!

Once again, these launch on Friday, April 14th, at 8pm Eastern in Karen’s shop. Be sure to set your alarms so you can get your set!
